Here are some simple steps to incorporate meditation into your daily routine:
Step 1: Find a Quiet Place:
Choose a quiet and comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
You can sit on the ground or a cushion or chair, with your back straight but relaxed.
Step 2: Settle into a Comfortable Posture :
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to settle into your body.
Relax your muscles and let go of any tension you may be holding.
Step 3: Focus on Your Breath:
Bring your attention to your breath as it flows in and out of your body.
Notice the sensations of each inhale and exhale, without trying to control or manipulate your breath.Don’t overfocus.
Other options to focus are:
- Image a place you like most and virtually see that place
- Chant your god’s name Example : Shri Ram, Shri Ram, etc
Step 4: Cultivate Present-Moment Awareness:
As thoughts, emotions and sensations arise, simply observe them without judgment or attachment. Don’t give importance to them.
Allow them to come and go, returning your focus to your breath or your imagination place or god’s chanting whenever you get distracted.
Step 5: Practice Regularly:
Consiistancy matters.
Start with just a few minutes of meditation each day.
Gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.
Aim for consistency rather than perfection.
Be patient with yourself as you cultivate this new habit.
